近日不断收到海外中医同道分享的中医药战疫交流信息，其中不少还是地道的外国人，他们对中医的疗效交口称赞。此次疫情期间，中国的战疫经验让西方人对中医药的疗效刮目相看，许多海外中医药机构门庭若市，这让我们中医人倍感振奋。中医药历久弥新，虽几经坎坷，但始终屹立不倒，并且走出国门，为世界人民的健康带来了福祉。“大难显大爱，大疫有中医。”中医药值得我们献出最深情的告白。特作此文，谨以纪念。

The year 2020 is destined to be unusual. A novel coronavirus suddenly attacked China and the rest of the world. The epidemic has touched the hearts of people in every corner of the world. no specific and effective drugs.With vaccine development still far away and the rising rate of case fatalities, the situation seemed to be out of control.In China, this situation deeply affected the heart of every traditional Chinese doctor. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has a long history of several thousand years, used unfailingly in protecting Chinese people’s lives. Reviewing the history of TCM, it is a history of struggle with pestilence. TCM for thousands of years and countless times have helped in the treatment and prevention of plague, prolonging the lives of people in the Chinese nation and this time it is no exception.
In China's process of this anti-epidemic fight, the integrated treatment of traditional Chinese and western medicine is undoubtedly a highlight. This time, among the confirmed Covid-19 cases in China, 74,187 people have used TCM, totaling 91.5%, out of which are 61,449 people in Hubei province, accounting for 90.6%. Clinical observation shows that the total effective rate of TCM has reached over 90%. Almost 100% of the temporary hospitals have introduced TCM, and practically all their patients have taken TCM. The overall results have been good, and the rate of severe patients has been greatly reduced. An early application of TCM can often play a significant role. In fact, as early as 2003 during SARS, TCM reflected its unique advantages, became an important force in the fight against SARS, Chinese herbal medicine could relieve symptoms quickly and effectively, with almost no recurrence, greatly improved the recovery rate.
After the outbreak of the overseas epidemic, the overseas demand for TCM has increased unprecedentedly, and the herbal medicine is in short supply.China's success in fighting the epidemic with integrated Chinese and western medicine has made overseas medical colleagues yearn for the Chinese experience.In particular, looking forward to the support from TCM. Various global TCM anti-epidemic platforms have sprung up to share TCM wisdom and contribute to China's efforts.Compared with Western medicine, TCM treatment usually does not focus on the virus itself, instead focusing on adjusting the body’s immune system to clear symptoms and reduce complications. It is cheaper and no less effective .
But in recent years, the impact of modern medicine outshines traditional Chinese medicine leading people to disregard the specialty and strength of TCM, and even given rise to a lot of of TCM critics leaving it out in the cold. Even so, TCM is still quietly protecting our nation, with no complaint or regret, TCM can always stand up and save us in distress in the most critical moment. Compared with other countries, we should be grateful for having the protection of two medical systems.
Fortunately, the state has attached great importance to the development of TCM in recent years, implemented many significant policies related to TCM. The situation is gratifying. China has achieved successful experience in the prevention and treatment of Covid-19 with integrated Chinese and western medicine, and is also contributing experience and ideas to the overseas. The depth, breadth and strength of TCM intervention in this Covid-19 outbreak are unprecedented. We hope this will be a new starting point for TCM to step out into the world. we should advocate our traditional Chinese medicine that have guarded our ancestors for generations, cherish and be proud of this great treasure house.
